Valentin Vervack, member of Kendo Iaido Gent won recently the 2nd dan division Iaido competition for Tokyo area at the Tokyo Budokan (Japan).

This year we had a delegation of 16 teachers & students coming from allover Japan for the annual winter event organized by our Federation. For one entire week we had Nishiumi sensei for Jodo, Kobayashi & Uehara sensei for Iaido & Tahara, Hirakawa, Nomura and others for kendo. Around 400 persons travelled to the Centre Sportif ‘Forêt de Soignes’ for the different classes. On Saturday afternoon, exams from 1st up to 5th dan were organized in Kendo. The 15th iaido championships organised this year by the BKR took place sunday 27/05/2012 in Louvain-La-Neuve (Blocry) and started at 10:30 sharp. The hall had been nicely prepared with 2 shiaijo and a warming-up area. 6 referees were appointed for each shiaijo (A & B) which made it possible to switch on a regular base. As always, December was a busy month… We had the 21st edition of the ABKF Winter Seminar for Kendo, Iaido & Jodo. All groups had the opportunity to practice under the guidance of Japanese top experts. This year, around 300 persons from 12 different countries came to Brussels to share their knowledge, experience and make new friends. Great results for the Belgian Team at the 18th European Iaido Championships 2011 in Andorra !!! Two days of seminar with 22 countries represented and more than 200 participants, everybody in the team so happy to meet all European Iaido friends and receive the teaching of 3 great sensei: Kawaguchi sensei, Kusama sensei and Kamikokuryo sensei all Iaido 8th dan Hanshi. 10th Anniversary Edition The 10th Edition of the ABKF Koryu Seminar was held the 26-27-28 august 2011. The seminar was organised as part of the ABKF Summer Seminar 2011 and was located in Louvain La Neuve. From now on, the minimum age for attending a shodan (1st dan) examination in Kendo, Iaido & Jodo is 13 years old instead of 14. Decision was taken dring a recent meeting of the International Kendo Federation (FIK) Please note.
