EIC 2019 in Athens, Greece. Belgian Iaido Team report

Just back from the 26 th European Iaido Championship in Athens, the largest until now with over 300 participants and 25 countries. As it was the first time Greece organized the EIC, they did a fantastic job. The hotel was fine, the sayonara party was great and the championship itself went smoothly, thanks to the dedication of the many Greek voluntary assistants. The kakari-in knew what they were doing, results were correctly noted and send trough to the head tables. Thank you, Greece. 25th EIC 2018 Zawiercie – Poland

Belgian Iaido team report – EIC 218 in Zawiercie, Poland. WOW !!! That is the first reaction after this 25 th European Iaido Championship last weekend . Although I already attended in earlier championships as referee, this year I was really ‘on the competitors side’ as Belgian Team manager to see (& love) it all. This year’s Belgian referees were Patrik Demuynck and Luc Defraeye. After a long travel, from Brussels via Frankfurt to Katowice airport, we arrived on Thursday evening at Zawiercie. Great results for the Belgian Team at the 21st European Iaido Championships 2014 in Helsinki !!!
Two days of seminar with 19 countries represented, everybody in the team very happy to meet all European Iaido friends and receive the teaching of 3 great sensei: Sakono sensei, Kusama sensei and Aoki sensei all Iaido 8th dan Hanshi.
Great competition results with 7 medals: 3x Gold, 1x Silver, 2x Bronze and 1x Fighting Spirit.

The 20th European Iaido Championships was this year organized in Meze, France. The ambiance during this event was great and everybody was very happy to meet all Iaido friends from all over EKF countries. After 2 days of seminar, the Belgian team achieved a tremendous job in the individual taikai by winning not less than 8 medals with Bruwier Philippe 6th dan Silver, Simonini Michael 5th dan Gold, Kanto Yuki 5th dan Bronze, Vandenbussche Jonathan 4th dan Gold, Vervack Valentin 2nd dan Gold, Vijverman Yvan 2nd dan Bronze, Cool Steven 1st dan Gold, Croes Kim 1st dan Bronze.
